Partner Project: [Redacted] University Green Waste Project

125,000.00

[Redacted] University is in search of a new system for managing its food waste and landscaping waste. Currently they truck the waste to a facility 160 miles roundtrip away from campus where it is processed in a sub-optimal fashion. The University is looking for a new method that is more environmentally friendly and cost effective. In partnership with Seed Consulting Group Corona gave a recommendation for a new system. We gave a straightforward recommendation following the EPA's food recovery hierarchy that would solve the issues they've experienced with food diversion in the past (odor and vectors), save money on food procurement and disposal (~$29,000 on disposal costs annually), reduce emissions associated with waste breakdown in the landfill, and transporation emissions, all while building soil. Unfortunately, we project the odds of implementation are at about 25% and an outside donation earmarked for a new system would certainly help move things along.
