„If you took high school calculus you might think of regeneration as being the second derivative of sustainability (i.e. what jerk or jolt is to velocity). The first derivative could be thought of as resilience.

„In other words sustainable means something could go on forever under current conditions (if it’s just barely sustainable it can be tipped easily back into something that can only last a finite amount of time). Resilient means there is more of a buffer and the system is more able to withstand a negative change in conditions while still being able to go on forever. A regenerative system can be thought of as one that actually increases in its resilience over time
